“Central Virginia’s Community Running and Walking Headquarters since 1982”

Ten Miler Training Program

Hosted by The Charlottesville Track Club

WHEN: Questionnaires are available in early October at Ragged Mountain and the program usually kicks off in late October and runs until late March.

WHERE: The Group meets on Saturday mornings outside Lannigan Field (the UVa track) for a very quick lecture and a group long run (broken into individual groups based on your current mileage and pace)

WHO: Anyone (and we anyone) can participate, as we feature four different level groups within the overall program. For example, Program #1 is for those who have never run before or who are very out of shape and haven’t run in a long time. Last year over 350 folks participated in the program and their finishing time at the Ten Miler ranged from 7:00/mile pace to 13 minutes/mile.

HOW TO SIGNUP: Folks may signup at Ragged Mountain starting in early October or out at the program site on Saturday mornings throughout the fall (we will still accept newcomers to the program, based on their current fitness level, as late as mid-January)

COST: A $10-15 donation to the Charlottesville Track Club.

COACH: Mark Lorenzoni has served as the coach (on a volunteer basis) since the program started in 1988. Vickie Marsh has served as the Program Assistant since 2000 and she helps coordinate the forty five CTC CAPTAINS, who in turn head up the Saturday “long” runs.
