All-Central Virginia XC Poll

Final Poll- 11/19/2009

With the final weekend of the season upon us, Mother Nature reared her ugly head and gave us a dose of some true cross country weather, dumping several inches of rain over a three day span. At the private school (VISAA) state meet on Friday at Woodberry Forest, top ranked local runner Josh Morris continued his string of dominating performances with a 16:19 runaway victory to claim his first ever state title. In the team standings, the Woodberry Forest boys and the STAB girls added to the Central Virginia state title tally as both teams pulled out narrow victories in their respective divisions. Saturday’s VHSL state meet featured three local teams and the lady Warriors of Western Albemarle certainly had the race of the day as they finished third, beaten only by two teams who are ranked in the top 25 nationally. Even better than their podium finish is the fact that the Warriors will return their entire top six next fall, a scary thought for the rest of the teams in the area, as well as the entire state. With the cross country season now officially over, the local harriers get a well deserved break while individuals like Josh Morris and Anthony Kostelac will try to realize their national meet aspirations at the qualifying races on November 28th.
