What's Cooking on the Corner and UVA

The historic UVa Corner is one of Charlottesville’s oldest and most beloved shopping districts, with its original roots dating back to the 1850’s and having served students and townspeople for close to two centuries. Located directly across from Jefferson’s Academical Village, The Corner features brick tree lined sidewalks alongside beautiful 150 year old brick buildings and all within view of Jefferson’s magnificent Rotunda. Ragged Mountain is proud to have been a “Corner Merchant” for over a quarter of a century and one of the main reasons we continue to enjoy being a part of The Corner is because of the rich history and incredible diversity of folks who frequent our “neighborhood”.

Here’s just a brief list of things to do (in addition to shopping at Ragged Mountain) while visiting The Historic UVa Corner…

• Take a walk down the world famous UVa Lawn and explore the beautiful Pavilion gardens (each garden is distinct and different and they’re at no charge to the general public). Each May thousands of folks pack this historic and terraced strip of grass to cheer on the UVa graduates.
• Visit Jefferson’s Rotunda, one of the most famous university buildings in the world (close to half a million snap shots are taken each year of this classic and historic structure).
• Walk the “grounds” of Jefferson’s university, which has been ranked the first or second public institution in the country for the past several years.
• Step into one of our many Corner cafes and restaurants and you’ll find a yummy selection at excellent student oriented prices!
• With the John Paul Jones Arena, Lannigan Field, Klockner Stadium, Davenport Field, The Aquatic/Fitness Center, Memorial Gym and Scott Stadium all less than a mile from The Corner you have some of the best basketball, track, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, baseball, tennis and football venues and teams in the country at your viewing finger tips.
